Job Description
1) Job Title: Climate Business Developer
2) Key Responsibilities
A. Clean Cookstove Projects (Ghana & Rwanda)
- Provide strategic oversight and overall management of the Ghana Improved Clean Cookstove Distribution Project.
- Supervise local implementation teams and partners; monitor performance through data analysis, field reports, and updates to investors and stakeholders.
- Maintain collaboration with local authorities, NGOs, and government agencies.
- Support investor due diligence and investment attraction for the Rwanda clean cooking project.
- Establish monitoring, evaluation, and reporting frameworks for project performance and impact.
- Oversee project setup and implementation following financial closure.
B. Carbon Offset Project Development
- Lead the conceptualization and early-stage development of new carbon offset projects.
- Conduct feasibility assessments, budgeting, and proposal preparation for funding and technical partnerships.
- Ensure compliance with carbon certification standards and project bankability requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external technical partners.
C. Investor Relations & Fundraising
- Prepare investment proposals, project briefs, and presentation materials.
- Support investor due diligence by responding to technical, commercial, and legal inquiries.
- Maintain ongoing communication with sponsors and financial partners, highlighting progress, risks, and milestones.
D. Market & Policy Research
- Track global carbon market trends, regulatory changes, and Article 6 mechanisms.
- Provide policy insights and recommendations to align business strategy with evolving frameworks.
3) Qualifications (Required)
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Environmental Science, International Development, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project development and implementation.
- Strong project management and analytical abilities.
- Proven experience working in multi-stakeholder environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to climate action and sustainable development.
- Ability to travel internationally and work across different time zones.
- High level of independence, initiative, and willingness to learn.
4) Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in carbon offset project development.
- Background in clean cooking, WASH, or renewable energy projects.
- Experience working on development cooperation/ODA projects in Africa.
- Proficiency in a second language (e.g., French or Swahili).
- Experience supporting investment due diligence processes.
- Familiarity with ESG, sustainability, or impact-driven projects.
